Anyone else having MORE problems on Draco?

After the last 36 hours I thought things had to get better, but looks like someone doesn't like me!

My server came back and for a few hours it was fine, but about 2 1/2 hours ago every site on my vps vanished.

To add insult to injury I have submitted a support ticket, and other than the standard reply telling me the fault had been assigned I have heard nothing.

A short while ago, I put in a reply to my support ticket asking for an update (after over 2 hours), but that hasn't elicited a reply, so it looks like I'm screwed.

Hmmmm I'm starting to wonder whats happening to support.

Yeah my VPS has disappeared from sight again. That was after all my passwords had been mulched by what I can only assume was a corrupt password file.

My vps is there, I can access the webhost manager and I can access the VPS control panel, but I have no access to any of the sites by http or ftp.

Stupidly I didn't take a back up of the site between the time I was up and losing everything again.

OH yeah, service status says appache has failed and will not restart

For anyone else with problems, I have just received a message from support informing me
    Hi,
It appears that 'apache' has been corrupted on your VPS. We are working on this issue and we will update you as soon as the issue is resolved.
Obviously I dont know why this happened after everything was working for a number of hours once my vps was rebooted after the FSCK, but it makes sense (considering what the Service status indicator in WHM shows) Unfortunately its yet another 3 hours plus with no service

Fingers crossed that once support manage to fix this, I wont have any more problems (and that it doesn't take too long this time).

Looks like someone really doesn't like me, it seems my VPS cannot be repaired, so everything has to be deleted and reloaded from scratch, that wouldnt be so bad IF I had kept up to date records, but I didn't

My fault and I cant blame anyone except myself.)

So far I have been offline for 43 hours with just a 3 hour gap when I actually had a working server.

BUT I do want to point out, this is NOT Jaguar PC's fault, its just one of those things, whenever hardware is concerned it can go wrong (and in my case it has).

Wish me luck everyone, they are trying to reload my vps now, then I have to try and recreate all my accounts, then I have to PRAY all the backups work (I have some and so do support)

Oh well, all I can do is wait I guess and keep my fingers crossed.

Agreed Connie, I had a backup from the night before the problems started, and theoretically, the people I host, should also have had their own backups.

However, I don't back up apache, or the MySql server, because I don't have those facilities
    only Jpc has those.

As for having nowt to go back to, I don't mean that in terms of software or data, because at most I should only lose a few days worth of data.

Thankfully I do not run a commercial site and I take regular backups of my main sites but how many members will have gone elsewhere because my sites were missing.

You shouldnt need to back up the software, the data is what is important.
there are sveral programs that will do this, and I am sure jag has some solution as well

I have never been able to get a clear message out of JPC, but I wonder if they could set you up a Longhorn, or maybe a custom "failover" plan that ONLY serves up a single web page some kind of generic "Server undergoing mantince please check back soon" when your VPS dies? While it may not save all the members it would keep them from thinking the sites no longer exsist and they would probally come back....

Thankfully my server is back finally

I'd like to say a public thank-you to Smith who managed to sort out the final problems for me this morning, without his help, I would probably still be down!!!

First thing I did was make a new backup by the way, so I am up to date again.

If anyone else here uses (or used to use) Neomail, its no longer available, even on VPS's, which is a nuisance because it was my firm favourite webmail software.

In honesty there isnt much more to add, I still cannot see how any more precautions could have been taken, and yet I have been pulling my hair out for nearly 3 whole days.

JPC support did a great job, and though I would have liked them to drop everyone elses problem just to solve mine I know that was never gonna happen, they did everything fairly promptly as well, although as I said, Smith was without doubt a superstar as far as I am concerned.

    Interesting! I always hated Neomail...

Squirrelmail is nice, if you do your own install!

LoL! I've been testing Roundcube for a while now -- keeping up with the updates, et cetera -- and it sucks worse than Neomail!

I keep hoping they'll fix it, 'cause I really do like the GUI, but it's buggier than a lollipop in an ant farm...

    Yep! Just tried it again...

New server -- using Courier -- still doesn't work worth a damn!!!

I love how the developer says to quit sending him bug reports! Bwahahaha!
