    Unmetered Option

Hey I was just curious if anyone here uses the unmetered line option on their VPS as opposed to the 100mbps limited bandwidth. On my freedom plan I get the option of 2mbps unmetered or 100mbps limited, either work, except sometimes I need to transfer files quickly so 100mbps suits more situations. I was just curious if anyone actually does use unmetered instead and why?

    Good question!

    Personally, I would use metered...

I suppose it's a matter of scale. If you have lots of users, and I mean LOTS, I suppose unmetered would be better, albeit slower.

That's the only reason I can see...

BTW, I'm on SDX, so take what I say with a grain of salt!

I personally chose the 2mbps option and haven't experienced any slowdown yet. I figured overall as the site grows, it would be cheaper to get a couple more mbps than extra bandwidth... that and i like the idea of not having to be limited

    Nice site.

I've always been a fan of the metered solution.

you guys do understand that unlimited is not "unlimited". You can calculate the maximum amount of transfer your line speed cap will allow in a given month.

The problem is, as more and more people get faster and faster broadband (1.5 line is now down to $15 a month around here, I have a 10MB line for $35 so....) the number of users that can access your site at the same time is severly limited with a slower line speed.

Theoretically. I think (I'm not sure) it allows for bursts which are probably unlimited-if-available too.
    Good luck

I wold be interested in the awnser to that. Why would you allow Burstable Bandwidth? That would defeat the purpose of allowing an unmetered option in lew of a limited metered plan.

If you it is burstable, why would any select the metered Option?

Because there may be plenty of times, like during peak hours, when you get throttled back?

    I dunno...
    Good luck

Theres no burting above your bandwidth speed in the unlimited option, like you said what would be the point from our side?
