    Curl warning for vps users

I just discovered today that PHP 5.2.0 that comes with the cPanel/WHM software (I think its the CURRENT version) does NOT work with curl 7.16.0 (you shouldn't have this unless you manually downloaded and installed it like me ). If you did as I did, simply download the 7.14.0 version, and recompile curl and php and restart apache, and you should be good to go.

    Just an FYI!

    I'm using Curl 7.15.3

Are you implying THIS won't work with PHP 5

No, JUST 7.16.0 and php 5.2.0 (the CURRENT build with apache). Unless you downloaded and installed curl 7.16.0 manually, you shouldn't have it as its not supported by cpanel yet. I know 7.14.0 works, but i don't know about any other versions, just the one i mentioned.

    Cool!

Curl is your friend! I would hate to lose it!

I haven't had the time to properly investigate PHP 5 yet... probably won't until March 2007, according to my schedule. Guess I'll worry about it then... but thanks anyway!

I'll stick this into the back of the noodle, for future reference...

Hopefully they will at least have php 5.2.1+ and/or curl 7.16.1+ that will work together by then... I read somewhere that the LATEST 5.2 in the CVS does work, but i haven't tried it. But as of now the current build from cpanel of 5.2.0 does not appear to agree with 7.16.0 of curl.

Thought I would point it out for those of use using cpanel here

    Heh!

I've been here for, like, 3 1/2 years. Never even had a control panel before I came here. I thought I was gonna get BSD hosting, but it's never happened... yet!

Anyway, been here for 3 1/2 years, let's say... and I've hated cPanel/WHM for 3 1/2 years... so, they have a perfect record!

The only good thing about cPanel, IMHO, was it allowed you to kill stuff made by 'nobody'... and that was just a fluke.

With PHP-CGI, I don't really see any need for cPanel... except that's what all the sheeple expect out of a host... but maybe that's just me!

This place needs to get off the pot and go with H-Sphere or some other sort of 'grid hosting'...

I guess it's hard to do when ppl are throwing $100 bills at you, but it's getting sillier as time goes by, you know?

Okay, let's put it this way -- is there something out there that beats WinCVS?
