    VPS going down daily

Just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem?
It seems every day for the last 2 weeks my VPS stops responding to web and email requests, today its gone a bit further and I can't get into VZPP either.
Now give support there due normailly within about 2 hours or so all is good again however I keep getting differant reasons for this happening, I've asked them to look into it but never get a final "this is whats caused it."

The other slightly annoying thing is the 1st support response I tend to get is we've checked server load etc and all services are running fine however I still cant connect, would it be so hard for them to pick one site at random thats hosted and check if its up via http?

anyway yeh is anyone else habving a similar problem?

    Hi Phil,

If you are same person whose ticket I replied to yesterday, I believe it was confirmed the problem is with the firewall/apf on your vps blocking all connections from outside at random. It is true the services are running and your vps is up, the uptime was around 3 days when I checked yesterday.

Yes you did say that the case you worked on was a problem with APF however the 6 cases before gave me no explanation, and nor did I get an explanation for todays problems.
    including no connection to zvpp.

My VPS is doing great this month. SiteUpTime reports 100% uptime for pop3 - HostTracker reports 100% uptime for httpd port 80 and UpPanel reports 100% for mysql port 3306. So far 100% uptime in December.

Cpanel shows the server running for 39 days 10:56 minutes (when I last recompiled apache for a PHP module addin).

All is well here with our VPS. Sorry no help to the problem but just a testimony that some VPS's here are running smooth during the time you are having some issues.

Mine is going on and off for like half an hour every two days or even more often, and every time this happens, I have to restart FTP, apache, etc services...

I'm on ulysses, and I have 98.26% uptime since august this year.

I'm on ulysses also and I've noticed some slow downs and short outages also. I was looking at Virtuozzo the other day and noticed that it was stuck trying to do a backup for several hours and support had to reset it.

Having similar problems now on Kolar, just the past few days, named goes down, pop, smtp, cpanel... all these services appear to have stopped and then failed to restart.
I usually monitor pretty closely and can restart them myself. Support has asked me to leave them down so they can see it in action (or inaction) but I cannot afford to leave named off, my clients would kill me...
They have their request fulfilled this morning though, I restrted named, but cannot get pop mail, web mail or into WHM/Cpanel as of 40 minutes ago when a client called to let me know.
I noted the ticket for them, but no one has picked it up yet, which is why I don't leave named down when it happens... sometimes my tickets are responded to in 5 minutes, sometimes not for 1-2 hours, and I can't leave clients hanging that long when I know the fix is as easy as restarting a service.

    PetRSQ,

Is this issue resolved with your vps, if not, please send me the ticket id and I'd be glad to help.

Thannks Veena, we thought it was resolved, but as it turns out this morning, it is not.
See ticket number 2427306, you'll have to scroll through a long thread to see what's been done and what's been going wrong, I am about to add a summary to the bottom of th ticket though, because it has now been handled by so many folks that I'm afraid duplication may begin taking place.

    Thannks much,
    ~C
