Issues with remote streaming to Shoutcast server on VPS

I have been trying for the last few days to get remote streaming to my Shoutcast server working on my Apollo VPS. I have been able to do this from my PC fine with my old Shoutcast server on a box with another company, so I know that the streaming side is fine. The old server ran exactly the same OS, control panel, and Shoutcast server software, so I'm pretty sure it's not a software issue either.

Furthermore, a client running on the VPS itself can stream to the Shoutcast server fine using the same interface, and I can listen to that stream, so the Shoutcast server must be ok. My best guess at this point is that the issue is a network issue with this VPS somehow, but I'm not sure what.

It can't be a port/firewall issue, because I can look at the server status fine, which runs from the very same port. The only problem I can think of is that maybe a packet filter is stripping my packets before they ever get to my Shoutcast server, as the server never even sees my connection attempts; it should at least reject them if it didn't like them, but nothing comes up in the log at all. Any ideas, guys?

    ISP issue, maybe?

    Just thinking out loud...

All this testing was in parallel, so it would work on the old server but not the VPS here, at the same time. I don't think my ISP is the issue, unless there's a conspiracy there to only block Shoutcast streams one-way to certain IPs or something.

This is what got me thinking...

I assume your client uses a different ISP. What other variables are present

You might try running NETSTAT 5 from (local) CLI...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're getting at. There are two scenarios that work:

Scenario 1: My home PC streams to my old Shoutcast server on a different VPS, using the Winamp DSP plugin. This worked.

Scenario 2: My VPS here runs a separate client process which streams to the Shoutcast server on the same box, using the same kind of interface as scenario 1. I know it is a bit confusing, but the box has no problem streaming to itself through the remote streaming interface using its own IP address.

The scenario that doesn't work (let's call it scenario 3) is me streaming from my home PC to the Shoutcast server here. Which parts of which scenarios are you talking about?

I'm just talking over the fence... shooting the bull... tossing out some ideas, et cetera. I don't have any experience streaming via a Shoutcast server, other than listening to them, getting URIs for my playlists from ppl's admin panels, and so forth.

If you run NETSTAT 5 in a window, I believe it might help explain what's going on. That is, I would try streaming, and watch NETSTAT. If NETSTAT indicates you are connected to your VPS server here, I don't know why it wouldn't work. However, if it's sitting idle in a wait state, or whatever, it might give you some clues as to what's going on...

Thanks for the idea, but nothing seems to show up in there at all when I repeatedly try connecting to the Shoutcast server. This is despite the fact that connecting to the old server shows up quite clearly, as do my FTP and telnet connections to the VPS here.
