    (help) setting up name servers

    hi

i am using plesk control panel and i want to create my own name servers . i have about 6 domains from godaddy which redirect before to ns3.nocdirect.com and ns4.nocdirect.com

i tried to add an A record for 1 domain ns.domain1.com and then another A record ns.domain2.com, so now i have 2 name server with 2 different IP adress

i then added the 2 NS record

the problem is i am stuck here, because in godaddy control panel, for domain1.com for example you cant say that nameserver is ns.domain1.com

so how does one solve this

I've never used Plesk, so I can't comment on this from the Plesk setup side of things.

Assuming that you got the nameservers setup and configured correctly, the next thing you need to do is register the nameservers with the registrar that maintains the registration for the domain they "live" on. The registrar should have a form for doing that somewhere in their site. Try searching their support docs if you can't find it.

Once the names are registered as nameservers you'll be able to point domain names registered with any registrar at them.

    hi there

i figured it out. godaddy rejected it because i was trying to point domain1.com to ns1.domain1.com

i discovered you cant do it with their default form, they had a special form for this where you indicate the IP adress for ns1.domain1.com

    thanks jason for the reply

FWIW, the Enom video is from the older Enom interface, and could use an updading.

You should find a form in your domainCP otherwise if you are running cPanel log into whm and goto DNS settings => Edit DNS Zone +> select the domain you wish to edit => Add an a record for ns1 and ns2 to point to the server ip's => Click save then wait for a bit
