    Your opinions: Helm, Windows VPS

I must say, Helm is a great product!

It offer you a bit more freedom from the administrator's point of view (over Plesk for Windows that is). Until now, Plesk didn't support ASP 2 for example (added in 7.5.6), while you could run something like that on Helm with ease. Biggest reason to why I like Helm is that it's written in Windows native language, not in PHP, not for Linux, it's written FOR Windows. Those of you who use(d) it, you must've noticed how incredibly fast it is. One of the disadvantages of Helm from my point of view is that it doesn't support MSDE. Nevertheless, this shouldn't stop you from trying this great product - if you already haven't.

As for looks, it's not the prettiest control panel on the planet, however, the new version 4 is something we are all waiting. I must also mention resource usage where Helm wins over Plesk for Windows - it uses significant amount of memory less than what Plesk does.

Those of you who use(d) Helm, how do you like it? Those of you who haven't used Helm, if you have any questions, this is the right place to ask.

MSDE is a free version of MS SQL. It has few limitations (such as database size - maximum 2 GB per database), but overall it does a very good job. You can see more information at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/edition...s/default.mspx

    Thumbs up

    Hi Milovan,
I used even today just as reseller, but it was very good!
Unhappily never I used Plesk to compare and to give an opinion.
If I will sign a windows vps today, I will probably want with HELM.
Mainly now that know that my "master" finds him good!
    Best regards,
    Ricardo.

Well, personally, I'm liking HELM a lot. As milovan put it, its simply fast, not slow like cpanel/WHM. Its also a bit faster than plsek for windows, to. and plesk for window's always had issues with my 2 old VPS hosts. They always would randomly drop the FTP service in windows and most of the time FTP was sluggish, and most of all, never allowed the main admin to have his OWN websites, not that big deal, was just a minor annoyance. Most of all, it was so darn messy way of installing things(like haveing to upgrade stuff post install, the structure/way of running all the apps was a pain...), IMHO. Whats also neat is it has billing/payment integrations right in it, for example paypal. I havent gotten to go and set that up yet, but i checked out the options, and it looks like it has everything you would need! So i soon plan to start using paypal for the customers to pay through. Now, Like Milovan said, it's not the prettyiest panel, but it looks less cluttered than whm/cpanel, so its easier to find stuff! Though again i think the speed makes up for any downfall in looks. Though version 4 looks like it will dominate anything that Plesk has put out so far... I have no use for MSDE so it's not a problem. I just cant wait till V4 comes out!!!

Well thats my quick review of it, since i have only been looking at it for a couple of days now  But FYI i have used plesk (linux/windows) with 2 hosts (only win for one though, and after using it for windows vowed never to tuch it again x.x ). Cpanel/Whm with DEHE. If this counts too, HSPcomplete. So i have tried most of them already, and so far HELM is the best overall. Even though they all have there advantages...

Just one question related to V4 of HELM, will we be able to expect an upgrade to it if we want to, when it is released and DEHE get's it? or will it only be for new installs/customers?

Yep, we will make sure that everyone gets these upgrades if possible, from what we have seen V4 is indeed very, very nice. I am personally looking forward to it a lot
