    VPS completely dead

    I don't know what the problem is, but since I requested that DEHE reinstall my VPS and you agreed, the VPS has been down for almost a week now, with only brief uptimes. As I'm typing this, I can connect (sluggishly) to my Virtuozzo Power Panel, but cPanel, WHM, and every other service (email, web, etc) is down and completely unresponsive, via IP or hostname. The relevant ticket number for this is VLZ-91182, and I've had no responses on it for a day now!

    I'm getting to my wits' end here. I have 2 websites and e-mail accounts that are down because of this. Could I please see some of your 'hosting expertise' here because the service is pretty poor right now, and if it doesn't improve I will be forced to find somewhere else!!

    I don't see any sluggishness. This is output from your VPS:

    bash-3.00# w
    18:57:26 up 1 day, 11:17, 0 users, load average: 0.00, 0.02, 0.00
    USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
    bash-3.00#

    I would not say that your VPS has been down for a week, we didn't touch it and it's your responsibility to make sure all the services are running on it... I do see that your VPS has been rebooted only yesterday, April 19th, for 3 times in 3 minutes. Between April 15th (when it was recreated) and April 19th, it wasn't rebooted once.

    Load on the hardware node is 0.77.

    Well then there's some weird problem, because i cant connect to it and nor can my dad (who has a separate connection, also in the UK). How are you connecting, locally or over the public internet? Could you investigate as to whether there's some network problem between the UK and the your network?

    Hi jez9999,

    If its ok with you could you post the IP or some hostnames you have on the VPS so that others can test your VPS to see if this is a problem with your ISP or your VPS.

    Also where is the VPS located? Is it in the States or in the European DC?

    Jez,

    There is no network problem on our end and we're able to connect to the UK just fine. I would suggest to simply handle this matter in a support ticket because it doesn't really have any additional value to discuss this in public.

    Andre,

    Well I've been trying to but that ticket number I quoted hasn't been replied to in over a day, which is why I resorted to coming here. So what should I do?

    Paul,

    The IPs for my server are 72.9.246.100 and 72.9.246.101. There's something very dodgy with the connection, even with ICMP pings i'm getting 25%-50% packet loss.

    Hi Jez

    I have just tried to ping your machine from no less than 6 ISP's and the SLOWEST connection is below
    PHP Code:

    Reply from 72.9.246.100bytes=32 time=116ms TTL=51

    Reply from 72.9.246.100
    bytes=32 time=115ms TTL=51
    Reply from 72.9.246.100
    bytes=32 time=116ms TTL=51

    Ping statistics

    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

    That is definitely something on your end, I have just tried pinging them from:

    -UK (london)
    -NL (Amsterdam and Rotterdam)
    -USA
    -Australia

    0% packet loss from all locations. I would highly recommend to update the support ticket with the IP address that you are using to connect to the VPS then we can see whether we can do a traceroute to your IP from your VPS.

    If you use windows may be you can try run ipconfig /flushdns from your command prompt.

    OK so I guess we can rule out any problems with the VPS and the network at the GNAX facility.

    I think it is down to your ISP jez. What is your ISP?
