Name Servers and Hostname in the same IP, is this possible?

myhosting.com is my website, this is where users will order their packages.

i like them to have ns1.myhosting.com and ns2.myhosting.com as their name servers. how can I do it? My registrar seems to refuse when I place the name servers of myhosting.com to ns1.myhosting.com. =))

or do I have to use other name servers for my website? if that's the case, what are those name servers?

    thanks!

You would have to create the nameservers first before you can use them for your domain. We already described how to create them in the other thread you created: http://www.dehe.com/showthread.php?t=663

If you need any assistance, feel free to ask.

Well, this is a different question :-) The previous issue was resolved. What I am trying now is like this... I have nameservers from the two ips that you gave me, so let us call them ns1.dehe.com and ns2.dehe.com. Now, I want to create a website called dehe.com that is hosted as one of my packages in the same VPS so that it will use ns1.dehe.com and ns2.dehe.com.

Will this be possible? I want to do something like the one in yahoo. they have yns1.yahoo.com and yns2.yahoo.com and their users modify their accounts in yahoo.com.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Of course it will be possible, it would be just if you would host google.com using ns1.dehe.com and ns2.dehe.com domain name really doesn't matter, as long as your DNS zones are correct, and the nameservers in the domain registrar of the particular domain (in this case, google.com ) points to ns1.dehe.com and ns2.dehe.com

Well yes, thanks again. You see, propagating the info on registrars needs a long time and I really need to ask to confirm what is possible and not.

    Thanks!

Can you recommend me a good article about Name servers so that I can learn more? Thanks!

    Hiya,

You can read DNS and Bind from oreilly. You can read it online on "safari".

You can test your setting at DNSstuff.com and DNSreport.com. They have a forum, you can have a look at it.
