subdomain of external site

hi

i need to host ONLY the subdomain of a site (subdomain.domain.com) , the domain is hosted in other server and i just need to host the subdomain on my VPS.

the problem is that I don't know how to configure it:

redirect from the exteral host to a folder in my JP accout?
redirect to my IP?
use Cname? (by the way, where i set up the cname? and where to point it?)
need extra IP's?



i just don't know what to do somebody has any idea about it?

I think these would be the steps, but I've never done this.

You will need to add a DNS record for the subdomain on the nameserver for the main domain. That subdomain will point to the IP address of your Jag server.

Are you using WHM/CPanel? If so, use WHM to create an account using the entire subdomain name. I think this will work so that the subdomain will be recognized by Apache.

I don't know which files you'll have to modify if you are not using WHM, but I'm sure support would, though they might charge youa small fee to set up the subdomain for you.
