I noticed at the beginning you are replacing apf with a direct call to iptables. If I choose to use apf can I just skip that modification? I used to have a vps a long time ago and used apf and bfd as is without an issue. It seemed to block people fine. apf logs the blocked ips to a file so you can later unblock them and also does timed blocks.

Yes of course you can still use apf instead of directly calling iptables, so ignore that modification if you want to.

Ok. I just remember the last time I used JaguarPC that I used apf and bfd together and had to request an increase on the iptables limit.
