Well I did a test board conversion and here is what I have found.

1. You will need to change write permissions when you copy the phpBB3 to the server
2. If converting you need to change some minor script to correctly read (Can crash both boards if not done)
3. Need to know MySQL username and password for database
4. Will need to change more write permissions if you do a conversion.

If you know what you are doing you should be in good shape.

Once you make a conversion kiss you old board goodbye as I got an error trying to access the old one.

Well I did a conversion from 2.0.22 and 2.0.21 and work well but I do CAUTION that you BACKUP everything.

When I did a conversion it crashed because of an incorrect path. This is noted on phpBBs forums but your path may vary.

The hardest part of the conversion was the mySQL and there correct names.

Besides that it was simple. I do not recommend the conversion if you have alot if ADD-ONS or MODS to hold off because they have a limited support and new versions.
