Newb Alert! Nameserver "issues"

Hi everyone please forgive me for my ignorance but this is my first real attempt at using WHM etc.

Yesterday I signed up for the Freedom vps. I have a domain with 1and1 and my intention was to use that domain as the main domain for the account, hostname, nameservers and such. So long story short 1and1 does not allow you to register nameservers for domains you own and all I have heard so far is horror stories from users trying to transfer domains out of there.

I was told through support that I could simply use another domain name for my nameservers. So I bought a domain from namecheap and configured it via the tutorials provided by JPC. My question has to do with WHM. My hostname is still listed as server1.webmasterhelp.org which was what I signed up for my vps with.

Do I leave the hostname the same and just update the nameservers in WHM?

Sorry for the double post. After some searching on these forums I discovered that it is possible to use 1and1. Funny cause they told me it was not possible. Oh well. Sorry for wasting anyone's time.
