    Resolver Config

I've searched the forums and knowledge base, but didn't find a whole lot. My WHM resolver config has an empty primary field and 69.73.181.166 & 69.73.181.168 as secondary & tertiary resolvers. Do enter my server IP as the primary resolver? Or do I just leave the defaults?

    Confused...

    Hi Bill,

You can leave the defaults, this is what we usually have in resolver config (/etc/resolv.conf)

    nameserver 69.73.181.168
    nameserver 69.73.181.166
    nameserver 69.73.130.223

Thanks, Veena! Let me ask you this...

Let's say my server domain is server.domain.com. I submitted a ticket and had reverseDNS configured for this domain. I have several other domains on this server and when I ran a DNS report on differentdomain.com it kicks the following warning:

"Reverse DNS entries for MX records: ERROR: The IP of one or more of your mail server(s) have no reverse DNS (PTR) entries"...etc.

Do I need a PTR entry for each of my domains? If so, how do I configure? I run a couple of mailing lists (double opt-in, completely above-board) and I'd like to maximize my delivery rate.

    Newbiously yours,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,

In my opinion, it is a glitch in the way dnsreport does its checks. Irrespective of the domain name, mails from all the domains on your server use only one mail server ip address, ie. your main server ip. Only that ip needs RDNS setup. If you wish to setup rdns for your other ips if they are assigned to dedicated domains, that is fine as well. It is not really going to change the result in dnsreport though.
About email delivery, the receiving mail servers (only a few of them) check for rdns for the sending mail server ip, since you already have it setup, you are good.
