    Few Questions Starting Out

I have a few questions starting out, I have tried finding the answers but I was after something definitive.

    - When I signed up I wasn't paying enough attention and didn't see the 'managed' part of the deal. There is a table showing what managed means but I was curious as to how managed they are. Eg. Will services be installed? or say with bind will the tech staff update zone files for you?

    - I noticed also the control panel runs from the VPS primary IP on port 4643. I haven't had a look yet but is this actually running on the VPS or is it being redirected to the actual server the VPS is running on.

    - What is installed by default? I just upgraded my Debian VPS to etch and there were a heap of packages I noticed installed that aren't needed (kerberos, samba) I was wondering are these part of any management systems at jaguar or are safe to remove?

    - The email also said to point some name records to the server's secondary and tertiary IP addresses. I am assuming the zones are set up by the support staff or myself?

Sorry about all the questions, every VPS I have had in the past has been unmanaged or pretty much bare bones starting out. Just curious as to what the caper here is.
    Thanks for your assistance.

They can pretty much do anything for you. Just open a support ticket and ask for help.

I believe it runs on the Virtuozzo server itself. Port 4643 is not listed anywhere in the apache config and its "taken over" by the virtualization software.

Safe to remove. I've removed lots and lots of packages from my CentOS systems, vps or dedicated.

Not sure what you mean, but when running a dedicated or VPS system you can setup your own ns1. and ns2. name servers.

As thisisit3 said they can do pretty much anything. For detials of the management packages you can go to this url: http://www.jaguarpc.com/services/managed.php
Your VPS will come with Level 2 Management.

As far as i know your power panel runs off the physical server itself.

These are what's referred to as name servers. They can be set-up in your control panels DNS settings. If you not sure how-to do this you can open a ticket and a member of support staff will do it for you.

Ah I know about DNS, I was just working out why they needed me to point nameserver records to the server. All sorted now, just ignored everything and went out on my own.

Thanks for the replies guys, just needed to work out what the caper was.
