    mx records

I just recently set up VPS hosting (hello everyone) and I'm trying to set-up spam filtering through appriver (external third party mail service). The knowledgebase offered only 1 relevant reference that said to contact tech support, and the forums haven't seemed to touch on this much. I've created the mx records in our dns to go from mail.ourdomain.com over to apprivers server so they can filter it and send it back. The jpc tech support says to have them send the mail back to mail.ourdomain.com, but it seems to me that that would just send the mail back to appriver wouldn't it? When we set this up on dreamhost they had appriver send it back to something like mx1.balanced.mail.dreamhost.com so that they knew it was filtered mail. Has anyone else set-up an external mail filtering service on jpc? Am I missing something?

All you need is to setup MX to point the domain to 3rd party mail filtering service. Once they filter, they will send it back to your vps. Your vps should remain configured to accept mail for your domain.

And yes many have setup this on JaguarPC.

    ok, got it

Ok. I have the mx going from ourdomain.com over to our spam service and then they are sending it back to mail.ourdomain.com. I had made the mistake thinking that it was suppose to be sent to them from mail.ourdomain.com. I guess I should have payed more attention to the pre-existing dns records. Thanks for the help.
