    Talking Just opened an account

I am going to attempt to migrate from my shared hosting provider.

Anyone here a debian user? I don't have an /etc/apt/sources.list file, so I am not sure what the best sources to put in there.

    Thanks!

The default sources used by Jag for my dedicated Etch install are fine - they appear to be geographically close to the Atlanta data center. Mine:

    deb http://ftp.gtlib.gatech.edu/debian/ etch main
    deb-src http://ftp.gtlib.gatech.edu/debian/ etch main

    deb http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib
    deb-src http://security.debian.org/ etch/updates main contrib

centos, to me, was easier to learn than deb.. i started off with deb on my test server at my house and decided to switch to centos.. which i really enjoyed using.. but im still experimenting and trying to learn some more about linux so i am using fedora 7 right now.. so far i am liking it the best

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once every few weeks.

My scripts never have bugs. They just develop random features.

Well, I am an old, old redhat user. Probably stopped really using it around 6.1 and 6.2.

Now, I am an ubuntu guy.

I think that the biggest adjustment is trying to figure out plesk and where it puts everything and what type of accounts have access to what, etc.

And, I had to jump through some hoops to get yum up and running, which I was surprised at. I would think that all of the package manager stuff would have been setup by default.

oh well, just learning.. part of the fun!

Ehh.. I have gotten to the point where I don't care too much. I used to be really anal and want total control over everything.

Now, I just try to go with the flow and make sure it all works.

However, I did do investigating to make sure where it stores all information like bind files, hosting, etc..

I figure... either he has an inordinate amount of self-control, or doesn't exist -- like a ghost!

Specters and apparitions are that way...
