Apache 2.2 Config Comment/Question

After many things good and bad, my VPS on ulysses is running reasonably well.

The great JagPC support folk upgraded my Apache from 1.3 to 2.2 (2.2.6 to be precise). I prefer to use the more recent releases of tools. Apache considers both 1.3 and 2.0 to be 'legacy' now.

Anyway, I'm used to tweaking my apache by editing the httpd.conf file. The version that was just installed has the following at the top:

I would have no problem using the tools they suggest, but they do not appear to exist on my VPS. I checked the path mentioned above and did a search for all files beginning with 'apache' on my whole VPS. Neither of the two files/scripts above appear to exist.

There is another file in the /usr/local/apache/conf directory named httpd.conf,v. This appears to be used for CVS like versioning. It was updated this morning and appears to contain the changes I made and my httpd.conf file has not lost my edits.

So, even though the automatically generated comment appears to indicate that I have to do something to save my changes, it appears that the cpanel (or something ) is doing the version checkin of my changes.

Has anyone else run into this?
