    Down Domain

Ok this is the weirdest thing and I cannot figure it out.

One of the domains on my VPS is having issues, about 3 times a day, it becomes inaccessible giving Firefox and IE server not found messages. This outage usually lasts about 20 minutes each time and is not just occurring with me. I have had people email me saying that this happens to them as well. Mind you, while this one domain is down, the others on my VPS are still up and running... I have also noticed that when the domain is actually working, that at times it has EXTREMELY high ping times compared to the other domains on the same VPS... I thought this issue was with my ISP, Comcast, however, they claim to have sent a tech to check on their DNS servers and did not find anything wrong...

I have submitted a ticket and reopened it about 4 times now because of this issue and each time, I seem to get the same response:

I have checked and your domain is loading fine, please advise.
This is very frustrating and also not good for my site... I cannot figure out why this one domain would be having this problem when every other domain on the same VPS loads just fine...

What would be causing this? Why? Why is it only this one domain?

Has anybody else encountered this issue?

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once every few weeks.

My scripts never have bugs. They just develop random features.

Start with a traceroute when it's happening.

Of course I'm sure you checked DNS and your DNS server to see that the entries are proper.
    Good luck

Yeah, I checked the DNS settings, but the thing is, the server is not discoverable for some odd reason, I tried running traceroutes and ping tests when it is happening and i get an error message saying the host was not found... This also occurs at my office, which is on a different ISP than my home, so I am not sure what to think... Support is investigating it again right now

Also, if I visit the site with the IP address during these times, it works fine, that is why I thought it was a DNS issue, but support and I both checked the server's DNS settings and they are fine

Check that the domain is pointing to the correct nameservers.
    Good luck

Yes, support just pointed out that for some odd reason, my nameservers are resolving to different IPs at different times and not the ones listed in WHM nor the ones I have registered with Godaddy... This is VERY strange!

FINALLY! Almost a week of trying to figure this out and getting responses from support that did not help at all, Smith was able to figure the problem out, the zone file for my VPS still had the IP addresses for my old reseller account as the name servers... This was not showing up in WHM or anything, but its fixed now

    ((From my experience)).

These things occur when you transfer sites or domain from anther server to your server.

You made the changes in the Domain (DNS) C-panel but that it’s not enough, so you have to access to your sever WHM, and change it from there too.

How to do that? See the attachments

Ya, Rashad, I got it sorted out, it was an issue with the DNS settings... When support moved me to a VPS from a reseller, they said they made the necessary changes in WHM for everything but actually did not... I checked the DNS settings but did not think twice about the IP addresses on the nameservers, I thought they were the right ones for some reason, to many IPs floating in my head I guess... After Smith pointed that out it was one of those DUH! moments, I couldn't believe that it was that, but what really had me is every other domain worked fine and had no problem resolving, it was only that one domain.. That is why I did not think about the IP addresses for the Nameservers, I just really checked when I looked to see if I forgot any trailing periods when I edited my DNS zone last... Oh well, its fixed now and that is all I care about
