It allows you to create VE's and sell VPS hosting... Unless you have a really powerful server and think you can sell VPS hosting, I wouldn't touch it

If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once every few weeks.

My scripts never have bugs. They just develop random features.

"Virtuozzo is a proprietary operating system virtualization product produced by SWsoft, Inc." -wikipedia

Its based on the open source product OpenVZ created by the same company. Some hosting providers use OpenVZ, which is free, others use the commercial version called Virtuozzo due to the extras and the support provided by swsoft.

Anyone can run it really, it all depends how much resources you are willing to give to your VPSs.

What do you think of running that option on a
AMD 4200x2 Dual-Core CPU with 1GB of RAM?

Mmm... I was wondering what is the order of the applications
    (1) OS - Linux
    (2) Virtuozzo
    (3) Virtual-Linux
    (4) Cpanel

BTW, Would it be possible to run a Cpanel on Level 2? e.g. for me
and the customer ones on Level 4?

1GB of RAM? Your WHM/Cpanel using customers need at least 256kb each, so that will allow you to host 2 or maybe 3 VPSses.. Add more RAM!

    (2) & (3) are pretty much the same thing. The whole system runs but one Linux kernel, which Virtuozzo makes available to the VPSses. This is why VPSses take less resources than hardware virtualization and are able to share resources more dynamically.

You could have a WHM/cPanel and some sites right on top of the OS, yes. But I wouldn't recommend it. That WHM/cPanel won't allow you to manage the VPSses in any way and it's just messy..

To piggyback on Gwaihir's comment, you'd be better off creating a virtual instances for all the sites you want to put on your server--your's and your clients--rather than trying to host both virtual instances and regular sites from the main OS. That's really messy and could easily become a nightmare to manage.

The memory thing is an issue, too, though. 1Gb is not enough to do any serious virtualization. I'd add at least another gig, or more, if possible.

    Here is how Virtouzzo works

You purchase the hardware, I wouldn'y do Virtouzzo without at least 4gb RAM

You then create the vps images using package templates and assign them IP address's You will need 2 IPS for the main server and 3 for each vps you want to create. Once you create the vps you need to install cPanel on the VPS and each VPS cPanel license is $15 until you get 5 and let me repeat this (the only way to get this discounted pricing is to use 5 cPanel Licenses on the same server, and they must be hosted on the JaguarPC Network) The license's are then $10 each
If the vps isnt hosted with Jag then its $15 a license for any amount and $40 for a dedicated server license
