Question Moving to Dedicated From VPS and Need Guidance

OK, so I'm taking the advice of Vin and other posters here and am moving my site to a dedicated box from a VPS but I have some questions as I've never done this before.

Both have cPanel\WHM and Jag offers to move my site from one box to the next. However, I'm not sure exactly *what* is moved.

I have my VPS set up with APF and BFD, and have followed the steps in the "How to Secure Your Server" thread. Do any of these settings transfer over? Should I secure and configure the server and then ask Jag to drop the current site in?

Sorry if this seems rudimentary, I just want to make sure that I do it right the first time.

    Whoops.

I posted this in the wrong forum.

Would a mod\admin be kind enough to move it to the correct one?

I believe that ALL HELL will break loose once you make the move. I've done a few moves and after the first one i've learned that some things will have to be taken care of by you.

For example, tech support moved cPanel/WHM by just doing the normal WHM "move", which won't move any custom settings whatsoever. You'll have to backup your settings, configurations and other stuff and re-apply them on the new system. For example, i did loose my WHM "packages" and "features", as well as my assigned dedicated IP addresses that i wasn't already using, and other stuff.

I believe they have a pre-generated image that they just dump on the new server and then move WHM accounts over, finally handing it over to you.

In other words, just backup and restore on the new server as needed.

    PS:
the above may sound like tech support isn't doing their job right, but thats not what i mean, tech support can't really know your server and your custom settings and they can't really move some things due to differences between the old and the new server.
