According to that email it will be installed with the updates.

    It could be very interesting....

"reducing memory usage by up to 60% on VPS instances"

This should be a good thing unless Jag see this as a way of getting more VPS's on a server?

This does look very interesting. Hopefully the cost issue won't hold it back. Not sure how much difference in price it is. Hopefully current ones can be upgraded.
    Nomsane?
    That is all.

    cPanel VPS Optimized
    -------------------------------

cPanel VPS Optimized is a new version of cPanel / WHM specifically designed to run on Virtual Private Servers. cPanel VPS Optimized provides the feature rich functionality of cPanel / WHM while reducing memory usage by up to 60% on VPS instances.

cPanel VPS Optimized represents a great step forward for cPanel customers. The reduction in memory usage for each install allows web hosts the ability to host more domains per virtual machine. This increase enables hosts to provide a more efficient and eco-friendly server base with fewer physical machines.

The upgrade to cPanel VPS optimized will require no interaction. Once cPanel VPS Optimized has reached the build tree on your server, automatic updates ( or manual) will upgrade the current cPanel / WHM installation to a cPanel VPS Optimized installation. cPanel VPS Optimized is currently only in EDGE builds.

Information about cPanel VPS optimized can be found at: http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpvps/

It will be automatically implemented according to what was just posted above. cPanel is getting better all the time. One big feature still missing: multiple cPanel login accounts per domain (with pick & choose options for each login). It has been on the request list for ages. The new VPS Optimiztion will make cPanel the best hosting control panel package bar none - no?

I think it already was, but yes the large memory usage is an issue, hopefully not soon though!

If you update your cpanel to EDGE, you can get it. Or you can wait for it to make it to your build release which ever you are using i.e. STABLE, RELEASE etc. and then it gets updated automatically. In short, there is no JaguarPC involvement to "enable" it. It is right there for you to use.

This feature also improves performance on dedicated servers - up to 30% increase. I would wait till it hits the RELEASE tree before implementing it folks. There is a small bug with RVskin in current rendering.

This is breakthrough technology that perhaps is leading to a cPanel based virtual server system tossing the need for SWsoft / Parallels.

Our VPS's will be able to handle more (processes etc) now with less (RAM) and that is a good thing - no?

Totally agree with Frank, don't change to EDGE to get this update, it's not worth it, just be patient.

Nice. I'll play the waiting game. Hopefully it's not too long, very interested/curious in seeing the difference.

There is no set time. All depends on how many bugs/issues are being faced in edge.

Winger as Masood said, no time frame. But as of late cPanel has been on a roll with updates, new features and improvements. I am hoping we will soon see the new lower memory requirements of VPS Optimized in RELEASE at least.
