I compress my files with gzip. I know the issues with older browsers and some versions of IE, but that's for another topic.

I enable it on a site by site basis through .htaccess.

Recently I got support to enable mod_deflate across the whole server for various reasons and for me to test.

After removing the .htaccess stuff for gzip, I ran a speed test to see the difference. The site report says my website isn't using a compression method now, and the page load times are listed as significantly higher.

Why is the report not claiming any compression methods are being used by the server, and the page load times are listed as much higher?
