    Dedicated Server... Setup Time?

    Hello

I have ordered a dedicated server 2 days ago (update from semi dedicated - I got suspended for high sql use). From your experience how long does it take for the server to be ready?
I have read about many many days and I was worried. Its a business web site and it's big financial loss for me these days off net.

    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

It depends on whether the server you ordered is in stock or needs to be ordered by us. Are you already in touch with a sales rep/manager through a ticket about this? If not, please do so. Also we can accomodate your website and enable it/have a placeholder/maintenance notice up there until your dedicated server is available. Just contact us to get it done.

Well yes I am in touch. They told me yesterday that they have ordered the server. How long does it take this scenario? To order the server and then to transfer my site and setup?
Yes I know that you can enable back my website, but it has high sql activity, and the sql base is changing in real time and many many times. It will be difficult during the transfer in case of losing things and get complaining customers. So it is better to be off 2 days, and make a full transfer without problems.

I suggest you update the ticket and ask the person who ordered the server, he/she will have a better idea when the server will be available and setup.

I suspect it will be a delay so I asked right now to enable back my semi-dedicated server. It's coming weekend so it will not have so much sql activity.

    Thanks

    Hello
I was not going to post here in forums because I respected JaguarPC and I thought it was a great company.
But unfortunately I am very disappointed and I dont know what else to do (dont tell me again about tickets ....... )
I am customer from last November with semi dedicated server. I was having last month high cpu peaks and that's why I was banned and decided to make BIG step to dedicated server.
On Tuesday 8th of April, I ordered the new dedicated server. Today 9 days after and it is still not ready to work. They have told me 5-7 days in the beginning from the sales.
The first worst thing is that I have prepared my site for the transfer (by disabling some features) to make easier the transfer, some days ago. The result is that with this delay, I had lost 20% of my visitors and this means money.
Second and most important today my semi-dedicated server is ending, and they send me invoice to pay for one more month !!!! I am not going to pay it and I will be with no host in some days !!!
Third thing the ticket system is too slow. Or the answers from the techs are too slow (but the sales are excellent, in no time the answers ...). I believe that with some customers who are paying a great amount of money every month, the answers should be more faster. We dont buy dedicated servers for our fun, or to spend our time. We buy them for bussiness. And if we have good and fast support, we will stay here as long as possible and this means a lot of money for JaguarPC.
Anyway I am very disappointed for this all situation. But I have paid the money and I cannot do anything else.
To tell you the truth yesterday I was looking for other host solutions. If things remain the same I will stay here for the month I have paid, and then I will move to another host. I dont want to do it, but I am forced by this situation.

    Thanks
    Jim

OK, I won't tell you to open a ticket. Just contact sales and explain the situation, they'll work with you to make things right.

Here is the big boss' public profile... check out the links in his sig and pick one or two to send a PM or email.

    jimjim,

As Ron suggests, contact sales and ask them what to do. Personally, I would continue to pay my SDX invoices until the dedicated server was running so as not to have downtime. I am sure that sales would prorate your dedicated server's first month balance to account for any unused time you have on your SDX, but even if they didn't I would still pay to keep the site alive. What is worse, paying a little more to keep the site making you money or allow the site to go down and make you nothing to avoid spending an extra $30?

Like I said, talk to sales, explain the situation, and I'm sure they will work with you...

After terrible pressure by myself they finally send me, login information about my dedicated server.
But the server it's NOT working yet !!!! It says no license in CPANEL and there is an update happening.
I am very disappointed. It's not all about the money, it's the customer support that counts. And this was not good. They should have warned me from the beginning that it will take 10 days to setup dedicated server. Instead of this they told me 5-7 days.
That's not a good way to have pleased customers.
I ve been selling computers for some years and I know customers in this job. They want something and they want it fast, or they go somewhere else to another shop.
Anyway I told them to fix everything and transfer my old site in the next hours. If not, it's time to take some serious decisions.

    Thanks everybody for your help
    Jim

Have you asked sales why there was a delay? Chances are there was a good reason for it. Remeber, sales deals with hundereds of orders every day and dedicated server setup is largely a manual process. When a delay that is out of JPC's control occurs (such as a delayed shipment from a supplier) the sales staff might not think (or think its not necessary) to notify the impacted clients, but if you ask about it, I'm sure they'd be happy to provide an update.

Everything is ok now. The dedicated server is ready, and the transfer of my website was done.
So many things happened in the last 4-5 hours (many tickets answered) and I must admit that JaguarPC suprised me.
Thanks to everyone, to JaguarPC and sorry for my bad language sometimes, but waiting too many days can make you very nervous.
