Arrow Moving dedicated servers away from Jag...

Has anyone canceled a dedicated server account,
and had to move their server(s) to another co-lo host?

I'm curious to know whether there are any gotcha's
or surprises. (for example, unusually long time period
to remove server from data center; or large s/h fee
to ship the server somewhere else, etc)

You may post your experience to this thread, or
email me directly snorkelmaui [at] gmail [dot] com

    Thanks, Mark

Is this one question, or two?

Dedicated server: there is no hardware to move. The server is JagPC's, you pay only for the use of it.

Colocation: the server is yours and you pay for it to be plugged in.

I suppose an exception to that would be Lease-To-Own or whatever they call it...

Which begs the question: Are Dedicated servers rented or leased?

Call it a 30 day rental or call it a 30 day lease.
What would be the practical difference, in your estimation?
    Good luck

A lease is a locked in agreement for a term that is usually greater than thirty days and has cost involved for pulling out of the agreement before the time. Renting does not have such restrictions.

Mods don't typically delete post. We move them but in checking the OP post I did not see any that were moved.

It's possible that Greg or one of the staff deleted the post. Don't blame the mods for everything.

I own the boxes, and purchased them thru Jag's preferred partner, which was actually a special offer thru this forum.

Hey ancient, I remember you!!!... when the reseller server went down for days, with hundreds of Jag resellers affected and thousands of sites down, you were the brown-nosing moron / teacher's pet who kept saying negative words to any affected reseller who posted to the forum, about how they didn't have a failover plan in place and they deserve what they get. Everyone told you to shut the $#!* up because all those webmasters were down on their luck and were dealing with the outage and with nightmare issues with their clients. What they didn't need is some guy--who lurks the forums and wasn't even a reseller himself--rubbing salt in their wounds.

Now here you are again. In your comment that I excerpted above, it's not clear whether you're referencing myself, or the other guy Ron, or some other person who replied to this thread... but why not keep your nose out every freakin' thread on this forum and hold your negative comments to yourself. You stated that someone is about to post something negative about Jag, but nobody has, and we don't need you to imply that it's about to happen. Quit lurking the forums trying to vent (to vent whatever negative stuff you have inside you, from something negative that happened to you in the past) and get a life man!

If you own the servers then I don't see why there should be any problems getting them back. You'll probably need to contact sales to initiate the account closure and I'd assume they'd handle the shipping details with you then, as well. Jag has always been an honest, open company. I don't see why they would hold your servers hostage once you arranged and paid to have them shipped elsewhere.
