cPanel and WHM 11.24 now in Release Tree Update - Have you updated to it? Any Tips?

Now that cPanel and WHM 11.24 is available in the Release Tree has anyone else updated to it on their VPS?

Masood if you are reading this any tips with this update you have for us poor souls as far as the new Dovecot mail server and DNS options?

    Read more about it here:

    http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpwhm...w-features.htm

    cPanel and WHM 11.24

cPanel and WHM 11.24 offer new features such as NSD and Dovecot while streamlining our code base. The end result is a sleeker program that minimizes system requirements. The x3 interface itself has also been streamlined, requiring significantly less bandwidth, as seen in the figures below. These new features will result in faster overall load times and improve your everyday web hosting experience.

The amount of improvements made to the core software can not be overstated. We have improved interfaces for configuring mail servers, FTP servers, web servers, and name servers. DNS clustering has also been imbued with many speed enhancements which, coupled with NSD will make DNS functions run at top speed. cPanel's backup system has been reworked to realize significantly higher speeds. This will make creating, or restoring from. incremental or compressed backups substantially faster.

Also introduced in 11.24 is the cPanel Accelerated initiative. This new track for cPanel caters directly to dedicated server owners and administrators. The backend engine of cPanel has many updates and is reworked to yield enhanced performance on dedicated servers.

Mine auto updated with no problems. The first time I logged into WHM, I had to click to agree to the new license agreement, but that was it.

Haven't really tested it much, but looks really good. I don't follow cPanel updates, so this was a nice surprise.

I should also note I haven't switched to dovecot yet. I guess I'll wait and see what others say and if it should be the preferred mailserver now.

I was wondering the same - "lets see what others say before switching'"

Howabout JPC tech peoples - have any servers here running dovecot yet?

Ya I'd like to know, as it seems very interesting. I have a lot of clients that use imap, either webmail or blackberry, so it seems like this could benefit me a lot.

I'm obviously just a bit worried about performance since it's new, but I know cPanel would have tested it thoroughly so I'm not that worried.

In WHM, it says that a side effect could be all the messages are downloaded again, so I'd have to give clients a heads up as that would be pretty annoying.

I just don't like the way it makes you have a move cursor instead of a click cursor

Did you ever open a ticket and ask how this is? Still thinking this over but probably will as I'm leaning that way.

We are not using Dovecot on any of our servers yet and we have yet to do testing for this to see its pros and cons as compared to current setup.

Thanks Rizwan - come feedback when and if you do test it would be appreciated.

    It does look promising.
