Server down for 5 hours - "Managed" VPS

    "This isn't supposed to happen."

I woke up to a message saying that the server has been down for 5 hours. That was at 7 GMT, it's now 8 GMT so assume 6 hours now.

I have an expensive MANAGED VPS. Who is managing it? Why is it down?

I had better performance - with no issues like this - on semi-dedicated.

Can I get a response from someone at Jag on what the managed section of managed vps constitutes. I would expect you to have warnings on servers failing so they can be fixed. What is the turnaround on server down? The reason I pay the amounts I pay is because I am running a business not just a hobby. Is it wrong for me to expect a consistent uptime on my server??

Sorry if this comes off as a rant or a whine. I'm tired, I have had to tell my boss (at my real job) that I'll be late in, and this is stress that I don't especially need right now.

    Hi Jawad,

This server issue was resolved. My question still remains: Why is the solution sold as a managed server when I am told that it is my responsbility to monitor and alert of problems? That doesn't sound like a managed server to me.

Very sorry to say this, but I have been a JaguarPC customer since November 2007 and it is only that I know how painful a move to a new host will be that is keeping me with you now.

Things have rapidly deteriorated to a point where I have no confidence in the once fantastic Jaguar service.

I was a HUGE promoter of your services to anyone who asked me about webhosting. Now I am wary of even mentioning who my host is.

Your question is answered here on what is included in Managed VPS hosting:

    http://www.jaguarpc.com/vps-hosting/managed-vps.php

If your vps is down, or a service is down on your vps, it is not covered in managed services. You will need to contact us to report outage or problem with any particular service on your vps.

We monitor the hardware machine/server/node where your vps resides for its uptime.

We have plans to provide free monitoring tools however there are many available on the Internet already which can provide you alerts for free if any service goes down on your vps.

Do you have a time frame of availability on these tools?
