Which knowledge base link are they giving you? Do you have vulnerable scripts/applications running on your VPS that are being exploited?

Running and maintaining a VPS requires good knowledge of unix systems, if you don't have that or you are using Windoze (which is then obvious that you have no idea what you are doing since you shouldn't be running Windoze as a server on the internet) then a VPS is not for you and you should either switch to a hosted account or pay for an administrator to manage your VPS.

Jag will only "manage" the hardware node, the software that runs within the VPS is not covered.

I suggest you try a reseller account, it will run most scripts and sites, so you shouldn't have a problem moving your customers there, they won't notice the difference and a reseller account runs on Jag's (really) managed servers, they'll upgrade and maintain the software (but of course you loose 'root' access).

Unless you REALLY need root access, then a VPS isn't for you.

Millions of users of IIS disagree. But never mind...

    1) they are not millions, they are much much less
    2) just because many people do something, it doesn't mean its clever or correct, in this case they are very very wrong.

but then again, who cares, let them pay for more licenses to Microsoft, let them pay for more expensive hosting packages to run Windoze and let them clean up afterwords when it all goes down the drain... hehe

Well it's about 64 million sites, to say it's millions of users might not be accurate but to say it's millions of sites is. That's around 35% of all sites hosted on the internet. I don't see them being exploited because of IIS:

    Hi VAN_XP,

    What software are you using?
    Operating System
    Control Panel

What scripts or site types are being exploited?

Is your VPS getting exploited or just users accounts?

    @Pawel

I've spent a decent amount of time supporting Windows and Linux shared hosting clients and 99% of the time the problem is the client (or the software the client is running).

I find most customers use weak passwords and/or use protocols that transmit the password in clear-text.

That said, I found the Windows servers to have strange problems. Personally, I use *nix servers where ever possible and Windows if have to.
I do work for JaguarPC. If you do need help please provide your ticket number (this isn't sensitive information).

If I'm not active on the forum please open a ticket instead of PMing me. If you think the issue requires access to your server please open a ticket.

I'm not much of a linux administrator so I have a hard time comparing it to windows. I have all my internet sites hosted here at jagpc on linux so obviously I have nothing against it. But I do use IIS on the intranet and the problems I have had with them were of my own making. I just don't like this crazy theory certain linux users have that windows is some how insecure or unreliable (and anyone using it is an idiot), that's the only point I was trying to make.
