Cool SFTP for non-shared IP Address

I can FTP into my VPS with SFTP using SSH2 for any of the primary user names for the hosted domains using the shared IP address for the VPS. (Basic SSH using PuTTY also works if/when SSH is enabled for a specific domain.)

However, I cannot use SFTP or SSH on any of the other IP addresses assigned to domains on my VPS or for any FTP users created via the CPanel interface for any of the domains.

I've enabled shell access on the domain I am testing on and tried generating (and authorizing) an SSH key pair under CPanel for the domain being tested. Then I attempted to SSH in using PuTTY and the connection was refused. The connection was also refused from the FTP client (CuteFTP with SFTP using SSH2). So I deleted the SSH key pair and tried again. Still no joy.

The domain being tested can be reached in a browser by entering the IP address alone, so the IP address is valid.

There must be some trick to enabling FTP (and SFTP and SSH) on IPs other than the shared one on a VPS. And, I hope, once that works, I can apply it to FTP users created in CPanel (I have to be able to give access to a client and would like it to be secure, without giving access to areas they don't need to see).

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

The sftp will work only for the main Cpanel ftp user after enabling the ssh access for it and not for any additional ftp users, but it should work for other ips than the main shared IP for your vps. Please open a support ticket with your login information and other details and techs will check/troubleshoot the IP access problem.

    Thank you.

Just to be sure, I have just retested to make sure (using both normal shell and jailed shell enabled) and cannot connect via main CPanel user id on the dedicated IP address for the domain used for testing. Connection was refused for SFTP.

    I will open a ticket.
