    A record Question

A customer wanted me to change their A record to point their domain name to another IP address.

So I went under WHM to do this and realized there was a warning stating that their mail won't be handeled by the server anymore. I warned the customer of this but they are insisting that the mail can be handled by the server.

    Any suggestions?

Please check the MX record of domain if it is like:

    yourdomain.tld. IN MX 0 yourdomain.tld.

Then emails will not handled locally by the server as domain is pointing to another server IP address. And if your customer want to handle emails locally by the server then make the following changes in the DNS Zone file of domain:

mail.yourdomain.tld. IN A (your server IP)
    yourdomain.tld. IN MX 0 mail.yourdomain.tld.

They would like an A record to point their domain name to a different IP address but keep their mail at the local server.

    How do I do that?

Ahh. There is a handy check box that says "Always accept mail locally even if the primary mx does not point to this server."

That so far seems to do the trick.
