apache failed, fails immediately after restart

I am pretty much a noob when it comes to dealing with a vps, so please bear with me. my httpd service is down and every time i restart the service through WHM it immediately fails again. I have not yet directed traffic to this vps as i am still using it as a testing environment to work out any kinks before i go live. any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated

Are you checking the status of httpd service from VPS Power Panel. If yes please check this KB. If your WHM is showing httpd as down then please open a support ticket and techs will investigate this issue.
