    Backups for VPS accounts?

    Few questions about backups:

    1) I know that for VPS accounts DataLockBox backups are free, but are they automatically enabled when I purchase a VPS account? (I know in order to access the backups and do our own file restores we have to purchase the CDP addon) Just want to find out if this is enabled and running when we purchase a VPS account. Also what is the retention for these backups and how often is it run?

    2) In the VPS accounts WHM panel there is a backup you can configure which is "disabled" by default. Is this a local backup which will store the backup file on my VPS account/server? This is different than the DataLockBox backup right?

    3) In the Virtuozzo panel there is another backup option in the "Maintenance" menu for VPS accounts. Is this different than the other two backups and should we run this?

Seems like there are three different backups for VPS accounts. Do you have a recommended backup strategy for VPS clients? Any info and help would be appreciated.

    1. Yes the DataLockBox backups are enabled automatically when a new VPS is setup but as you mentioned, you need to purchase CDP Addon to access those backups. For retention, we keep latest backups only. Normally we have two daily snapshots, one and two days older and one monthly snapshot.

    2. Yes this is local backup which is different than DataLockBox backup. In this local backup feature, you have two options:

    a) store backups on local vps/server.
    b) store backups on a remote FTP space.

    3. Yes this backup is different than other two backups. It is generated for your VPS and stored on main node.

Although we are taking backups for your VPS using DataLockBox but we strongly suggest clients to maintain their own copy of backups.

    Backups for VPS accounts

hi, just got my hands into the vps environment and am completely lost.
so im a new customer with jaguarpc, everything has been setup for me but i dont know how to use it

i have plesk control panel, and i want my main account to act like the hosting company, and need to add about 5 domain or client accounts that individual users will access and use.. long story short, how do i do this?

ive always used whm/cpanel so thats also causing some problems, should i just switch to those? i wanted to try plesk to see if its good but i see a huge learning curve..

    thanks,

    Ratan

    - Ratan, you can log in as admin into the Plesk interface and add domains under the "Domains" sections.

    - Yes, both panels are slightly different, however you can find basic tutorials on managing a Plesk admin and client end interface in the URLs below.

It is up to you and your specific requirements, both panels are widely used. Support is available 24-7, so you can open a support ticket anytime you face any issues.
