Help me with a quick start whm to create resellers

Hi, I used to manage a VPS with Plesk. Now I have migrated my VPS to a WHM/cPanel VPS. I have this questions:

In Plesk I was able to create clients and reseller accounts. I can see and manage any domain (even if the domain was on a client or a reseller account). Now with WHM I'm lost. All my domains are owened by root and I have to set up again my packages and resellers (that's because the migration). I think this is not a problem, but I'm pretty lost with the reseller feature.

Please let me know as a "quick start guide" how to setup my resellers, how can I see and manage all the domains (I mean files, mails, backups, etc) with WHM.

So far, I have created a reseller account for me and when I go trough cPanel I can manage all the domains, but if I create a reseller, and make him to have accounts, I can't see or manage his domains (I want to do that when support is required and I don't want to ask for passwords).

    Thanks !

With WHM as root, you can manage everything, but with a reseller, you can manage only the accounts under the reseller. You can create and manage reseller's in root's WHM under "Resllers >> Reseller Center".

    - The following link will help you in managing your WHM (root) and reseller.

Reseller's admin panel can be accessed via the same WHM URL but you need to enter the username and password of the account you made a reseller. This WHM will be similar to root but with a few less features. You can add administrative features to a reseller from root WHM under "Reseller Center". To view all accounts under this reseller, go to "Account Information >> List Accounts".

Hi Jawad, thanks for your time and answer. I'm trying to have a way to manage all the things (I know that with root I can do that, but with root I can't log in in cPanel and with WHM I don't really know how to see the files, mails and databases of all domains).

If you or someone else knows the way to do it I will apreciate the information.

Another thing, I want recommendations about my system with WHM. Which is better ? Have packages and make an account owened by root, and all the resellers with their accounts, or to have a reseller account for me, and all my clients owened by my reseller account and leave the root account just for management things.

    Thanks

With root, you can log in to cPanel and use almost all features other than phpMyAdmin and Fantastico, just go to "Account Information >> List Accounts" and click the cPanel icon next to any account and you will be logged into that account's cPanel with root override. You can view File Manager, databases, email accounts etc.

You already have root access so you may not create a reseller for yourself. Root can create resellers and manage them so you have all you need as root and managing both root and your reseller will be a an extra headache. Secondly, reseller cannot create resellers. Only root can create resellers.
You can create packages from root WHM and assign each reseller a specific package. Then those resellers can themselves create resold accounts and packages from their reseller WHM. Overall, the resource usage of all resold accounts of a reseller should not exceed the package that you have assigned to that reseller. If any reseller exceeds its limit, you can check its stats from root WHM under reseller center. You can enable/disable overselling of resellers as well in WHM.

    Hi Jawad. Thanks again !!

Now, I have a doubt: If I change the branding of my clients (the root branding) that will affect my resellers branding ? can they have their own header on cpanel and style ?

    Thanks !

    Hi Capio,

I'm not entirely sure as I have not experimented much with branding.

According to the Advanced Guide to Branding cPanel each reseller can have different branding:
