Question DNS service on semi dedicated ?

I have read some stuff about the semi dedicated plans you are going to offer in the near future.
Will it also be possible to run own DNS service on semi dedicated accounts, or do I realy need a dedicated machine for that ?

(I need to run own DNS servers because jag refuses to allow zone transfers from some servers, which is required by the .nl nic, A dedicated machine, just for nameservers is a bit expensive...)

No you can not run your own dns server on a semi-dedicated account. Semi-dedicated accounts are simply put, large shared accounts that are on servers with fewer accounts than normal.

To have establish a trust with a server we do not control such as that outside service, you will need your own server. I still do not know why a registration service would need to do anything with your dns record though.

I don't approve the strange requirements of the nic either.
I have tried to get some answers from them and from IANA, but both fail to give satisfying replies.

The bad thing is, I live in the Netherlands, and a lot of customers want .nl domains, so I have no other choice then to deal with the .nl nic and their stupid rules.
I now use zoneedit nameservers for my .nl customers, but that lookst very unprovessional towards the customer.

When having a dedicated server, is it possible ( I know it is not advised) to run both primairy and secundary service on the same machine ?

Yes, and although its doesnt provide a true primary and secondary it is done by many hosts starting out that have only one server. If it becomes something you can do in the future I advise that you use two servers and migrate the secondary IP's to the other server to provide a true 1st and 2nd name server. You can use the server that you use for your name servers to host your clients also if you so desired.
