According to the GNAX forums (GNAX is where JagPC servers are hosted, I'm pretty sure), one of their smaller UPS's ran out of battery after a lightning strike in the area sent a surge to the facility that prevented the generators from starting. They did not restore power in time before it dropped its load.

Their UPS are designed to have 10 minutes run time. The one that ran out of battery supplies power to about 30 percent of the facility. Apparently that's where Jag's PCs are hosted.

There's a long thread over there about the outage, and a few less than polite responses from the GNAX support staff. I'm glad we have the JagPC support staff answering our questions here, and not the short-tempered guys over at the GNAX forums...
