    Failed login attempts

Anyone experience failed login attempts to the server and have done something about it? Is there default protection to lock the the account out for some time? If not, what is the best third party solution.

I would like to avoid any solution where I have to manually add an ip block.

If you have a Cpanel server you can use the built in CPhulk option, which is available under 'Security Center' in WHM. Its not enabled by default but you can enable it with one click and configured the values according to your requirement.

Secondly a combination of firewall and brute force detection software can help as well, for Cpanel servers CSF/LFD is a good choice or APF/BFD can be used too. Both are free and support can install them for you.
