Bad HD eh? Good hope all goes well with replacing it..... The server has been slow the last few days running various php apps, so I hope this takes care of that too..
From experience, betting 10 to 1 this does not do the trick and this becomes one of those 3 day headaches....... going to bed, what will I see when I wake up? Least my gmail account is getting email. Like three billion cpanel notices so far.... hahahaha....Update: We had to reboot the server to perform the replacement and server is now FSCK'ing. Once FSCK is over, server will be back online and RAID rebuild will begin. We appreciate your patience with this issue. Thank you.
I know what you mean Frank, this is the worse experience I've had with JaguarPC, well heck, worse experience since I've been leasing VPS servers over the past six or seven years. Never had a hard drive and redundant services fail so bad before, the most downtime I experienced in the past had been 10 hours with a different provider (and then the server was taken offline and accounts moved to get them back up). Clients were updated virtually every hour on what was being done and the next step in the plan if their actions failed, don't really have that here at JaguarPC.
At this point I'm not sure if this is a technical issue here at JaguarPC or a staff issue, the lack of updates spanning three to six or seven hours is not good customer service, and bothers me just as much as the server being offline. Snake has not had a good run over it's life thus far, and when you try to ask for a time frame from support you don't hear anything for more then five hours? What is that? Then the responses are not adequate for me. One was to follow the forum, which I had been doing since 8am EST (basically 24 hours now), and then the second response was there had been two updates on the forum and that the nodes on a vps are larger...umm yeah I know all of that but the time it is taking has by far exceeded the time I would have expected, especially with level two techs working on the situation...maybe it's time to call in the big boys or gals to get this done?
I hope your clients are more understanding then mine, I have several decide to leave because their site has been down 12+ hours.
My experiences with JaguarPC have been good, notice I did not say great, the lack of communication really bothers me at times like this, I would have said great if the level of communication was up to my standards (and that includes all the hiccups with snake in the past). Sorry if I sound so negative lol just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.
I am just glad I woke up to a working VPS ShenPixel. Yes, the people I share the VPS with are very understanding. I pay for almost all of it. They are just friends hosting their church's websites on it. I have several of mine own sites, not really a lot of traffic but we do have a lot of audio files online for podcasts and such - I have several years of my pastor's messages online. Some use it as a portal to stream their services live. The streaming is hosted elsewhere.
Overall I am still very happy with JPC and remain that. When I see NickO on the job I trust that the best is on the job. I just question who is on the job in Atlanta doing the physical replacement of the drives. I bet if Greg had his own data center, with his people inside, things would be faster, but that is another discussion for another day. I just hope snakie snake stays well now with the new hardware.
Just checked the various Word Press installs I have and they are certainly quicker now. I do not know if you noticed a slowdown of PHP apps the last couple weeks. I did. This morning they load fast.
glad yours is up, mine starts with a w so it may be a while lol
I'm overall happy and trust they'll do their best, just some areas that need improvement.
I have a few friends but for the most part mine are paying and don't understand the technical aspects and expect instant gratification.
I'm running a lot of WordPress sites and I noticed it tooGlad that's better
