VPS Quick Basic Setup & Configuration Guide

Assumptions:
You will be using the VPS and sell webhosting services
You will be assigned 3 public IP’s

Do this at your domain registrar
1. Register a domain name (hostingsales.com)
2. Set a hostname for your VPS (server.hostingsales.com)
The first IP will be assigned

DNS activity:
create an “A” record from your domain registrar and point it to the assigned IP.

3. Create two (2) name servers for your domain
Use the remaining IP’s for your name server

DNS activity:
create an “NS” record for your domain
ns1.hostingsales.com
ns2.hostingsales.com


Do this at your WHM panel
1. Create a package
Name it STAFF or something that will not be used for selling
Use the domain that you registered (hostingsales.com)
Make this account a reseller
*** This will be your main reseller account ***

2. Customize WHM
- Validate or edit the Basic cPanel & WHM Setup
- Change the root password
- Adjust the server time
- Configure customer contact and Support center
- Add packages (plans to sell your customers)

Thanks for the contribution. A basic guide can be extremely helpful for the novice. VPS setup can be intimidating the first few times and a 1,2,3 and A,B,C guide can prove to be invaluable.
