Hi all,
Well got a new VPS server on Friday which I was very pleased about to start with since it meant I could get everything organized on it over the weekend ready to get my site put on the server later today...
but all has not gone to plan and has left me unimpressed with JaguarPC so far I am very sorry to say.
When I first got the VPS server I was surprised to find that:
1st - ConfigServer Firewall was out of date - although I know that happens since it does get update fairly often and it only takes a few minutes to update that didn't bother me.
2nd - Upon running CSF found out that the server was very insecure - this didn't bother me too much either just little frustrated.
3rd - Then finding out that number of the VPS components were actually out of date and needed to updated before I could go any further ie WHM/Cpanel and apache.
This is when I started to get unimpressed with JaguarPC since this is the first VPS I have ever ordered that was issued not up to date, secure and meant I have had to spend more time on trying to get it working the way I want.
Now since Saturday morning (1am GMT) I have been having issues with Easy Apache and currently do have a ticket open trying to solve an issue with completing an Easy Apache Build.
Every time I run Easy Apache it is failing and reverting back to the previous build with the following error message:
I would really like to solve this issue and the support team has kindly offered to install Apache, PHP and the PHP modules but that leaves me in a difficult position of not knowing if the Easy Apache issue will be solved.Code:!! Failed to generate a syntactically correct Apache configuration (/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215): An error occurred while running: /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL -t -f /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215 Exit signal was: 0 Exit value was: 1 Output was: --- httpd: Syntax error on line 33 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215: Cannot load /usr/local/apache/modules/mod_perl.so into server: libperl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ---
It also means that if my site software requirements of Apache, PHP or the modules changes it looks like I would have to submit a support ticket each time.
Sorry for going on and on, but just really needed to get this off of my chest otherwise I would get so frustrated that I would probably end up just cancelling my account which after hearing so many good/great things said about JaguarPC is the last thing I want to do, especially since the host I moved here from is much much worst than what I have experienced here so far.
I am just keeping my fingers crossed that these issues are just hiccups on a new account and things will improve.
All the best
Tom
