    Not very impressed so far.

    Hi all,
Well got a new VPS server on Friday which I was very pleased about to start with since it meant I could get everything organized on it over the weekend ready to get my site put on the server later today...
but all has not gone to plan and has left me unimpressed with JaguarPC so far I am very sorry to say.

When I first got the VPS server I was surprised to find that:
1st - ConfigServer Firewall was out of date - although I know that happens since it does get update fairly often and it only takes a few minutes to update that didn't bother me.

2nd - Upon running CSF found out that the server was very insecure - this didn't bother me too much either just little frustrated.

3rd - Then finding out that number of the VPS components were actually out of date and needed to updated before I could go any further ie WHM/Cpanel and apache.

This is when I started to get unimpressed with JaguarPC since this is the first VPS I have ever ordered that was issued not up to date, secure and meant I have had to spend more time on trying to get it working the way I want.

Now since Saturday morning (1am GMT) I have been having issues with Easy Apache and currently do have a ticket open trying to solve an issue with completing an Easy Apache Build.
Every time I run Easy Apache it is failing and reverting back to the previous build with the following error message:
    Code:
!! Failed to generate a syntactically correct Apache configuration (/usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215):
An error occurred while running: /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL -t -f /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215
    Exit signal was: 0
    Exit value was: 1
    Output was:
    ---
httpd: Syntax error on line 33 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.1325971215: Cannot load /usr/local/apache/modules/mod_perl.so into server: libperl.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    ---
I would really like to solve this issue and the support team has kindly offered to install Apache, PHP and the PHP modules but that leaves me in a difficult position of not knowing if the Easy Apache issue will be solved.
It also means that if my site software requirements of Apache, PHP or the modules changes it looks like I would have to submit a support ticket each time.

Sorry for going on and on, but just really needed to get this off of my chest otherwise I would get so frustrated that I would probably end up just cancelling my account which after hearing so many good/great things said about JaguarPC is the last thing I want to do, especially since the host I moved here from is much much worst than what I have experienced here so far.

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that these issues are just hiccups on a new account and things will improve.

    All the best
    Tom

    libperl.so seems to be missing?
Have you tried to update and/or rebuild perl?
    Good luck

    Hi Ron,

Yeah I have updated and rebuilt perl, when Easy Apache first report that error I found that also mod_perl.so was missing and that's when I preformed the update and rebuild.

Have just seen that JaguarPC are doing something with the server again, not sure what yet but keeping fingers crossed.

    Thanks for the reply Ron.

Any suggestions or help in fixing issues are always greatly received by me and appreciated.

JaguarPC Support are doing something with the VPS as I keep getting emails from CSF alerting me to changes and log ins, hopefully they can fix the underlying cause so I don't have to keep sending them tickets asking for this and that to be updated because Easy Apache won't do it for me.

Even though I am on a Managed VPS plan...sometimes I can be too proud for my own good.

We come across the same issues when we purchase a VPS from Jag, although saying that it doesn't occur on every VPS so must be a specific OS template they are using. To fix it, we always run the following commands before doing anything else with the VPS:

    /scripts/fixeverything
    /scripts/checkperlmodules
    /scripts/upcp --force

Thanks for the info Dan, have already those commands to no avail though.

    ---------------------

Just a little update, I must say JaguarPC Support has been awesome have had many emails showing that they have been working hard on fixing the Easy Apache issue and during the early hours of this morning many updates to my ticket, although issue is still not resolved they have contacted Cpanel Support to look into this issue now.

Do you need mod_perl? If yes then this is indeed an issue with cPanel on some VPS. cPanel support may be able to find a fix. If you do not need mod_perl, disable it in eA. It is best to keep things at minimum when you run easyApache and disable everything you do not need.

Thanks for your reply Masood, a couple of the applications that I am going to use will require it, or at the very least recommend having it due to it being used by other add on applications.

Luckily the JagPC support team sent a request to cPanel support and they have fixed the issue, now EA completes the build with mod_perl enabled.

I must just say though Jag Support have been really awesome the last couple of days, kept me up to date on what was going on even when they didn't know what was causing the issue and had to request additional help from cPanel support.

Now to get on with transferring my site over to JaguarPC so I can cancel my account with my old host.
