    Ukliam2 desperate for help

I've been having a few problems with a specific SQL table and I asked support to restore their backup for that database/table. Unfortunately, their backup was taken too long ago, so it is useless.

Thus, I asked support to restore file, which is an old SQL dump that I had made via a cron job.

Unfortunately, the support guy made the mistake of not just restoring the file, but he actually when ahead and restored it on the SQL server, which means that he deleted EVERYTHING on ALL databases from all our users.

I clearly said I wanted the file itself to be restored, not the contents to be restored to the SQL server

Obviously the tech guy is not a native English speaker and didn't quite understand the difference.

I've opened a ticket # 13476879 and I hope someone from higher level tech support can figure out a way to fix the mess and bring back everything

    Any help would be appreciated.

You have made the right move by opening a ticket. I will make sure that our support manager is advised and we will see what we can do to set it straight.

Thank you for the quick response, I appreciate it.

The tech support guy who caused all this mess, seems to have restored a backup from yesterday, since all our databases reversed by a day.

I am not sure if there is anything that can be done, unless you have hourly backups

unless the tech support guy had taken a backup at the moment he made the mistake!
