In years gone by, JPC used to do up to 2 security hardenings a year to any VPS user that requested it free of charge, I was lucky as Masood did mine and he did a brilliant job imho.

Unfortunately I am NOT as technially gifted in this area as JPC staff so I wondered if that facility was still available?

Currently support are still working on my server so it's not something I need doing this minute but it would be nice to have a professional secure my VPS so I didn't need to worry about it once the VPS is working that is.

If it is a cPanel VPS and it is current then we can install a firewall if you don't already have one. I suspect you already do. Our technicians can check for you if you are unsure. The best action you can take is to open a support ticket and escalate it to level 3 as a non emergency inquiry. Our technicians can perform a hardening for you up to a certain point depending on what you want. If you have any additional questions then feel free to ask. That information should send you in the right direction.

You are correct there is already a firewall in place but I have to admit to being a little paranoid and for me security is a top priority!

I would rather make sure nobody can get into my VPS in the first place than try and get it fixed at a later date! I will see exactly what stage my vps is at and then request a hardening if it is likely to help ensure the security of my accounts or indeed the server as a whole (It only takes one compromised VPS to slow the rest of the server down to a crawl as we all know).

In the "old days" Greg himself used to encourage users who were unsure of their own ability to request this as it saved the company a great deal of time and resources by being pro-active rather than reactive.
