    Rebuild/Reconfigure my VPS

Ok, so more than a year now (I think, days kind blur together for me) I have had a Interworx VPS, I love the User Interface for Interworx, but some the under the hood stuff Annoys me, and while I hate the bloat that cPanel has, it does do some things that I need out of the box, and it employs, IMO, a greater security plan than Interworx which I need because I cant baby sit the logs all day.

So I have been thinking about, in some way wiping the VPS completely.

I think the Best way will be to just buy another VPS, set it up, Transfer the accounts from my current VPS to the New VPS and then Cancel the current VPS...

    Is their a Better way?

Will JPC provide any Migration Assistance? I may not need any but you never know

Can I have my Old IP Address's reassigned to the new VPS on the day I want it to go Live (this will help greatly with Down time if I can?

Any other thoughts or Experiences with doing something like this?

I wish you luck in your move. I'm sure JAG will be glad to assist.

Yes, I would do a test migration or two getting the environment right and the steps down pat before doing it for real.

As you know, a move of any sort and especially one moving to a new control panel is VERY likely going to generate issues. So if you do it here I would suggest you do the final sync of the migration and IP moves (or DNS changes) begining at the open of business midweek. Like Wednesday morning.
    Good luck

I'm moving a number of accounts from a shared host to a dedicated server. I moved a couple of my own accounts first, as Ron suggests to bed things down and be assured that all was well. Now I'm doing my customer accounts at a rate of one every few days.

    Hi the_ancient,
Yes, that is basically the only way to handle the situation. If you didn't need any of the data, we could simply terminate the current VPS and rebuild it with cPanel, but you obviously need the data.

Support only provides migration assistance when both servers have the same control panel so Interworx to cPanel wouldn't apply unfortunately. Having said that, support will not leave you in the lurch. If there's something they can help you with during the migration, they will be happy to. It's only when a lot of manual work is required do they start charging admin fees.

For the IP addresses, that can be arranged. I think it would be better for us to rebuild your new VPS on the same node you're currently on. Doing that should ensure there's no issue with you keeping the same IP's. Please mention it on the order form and we'll make sure the new VPS is built on the same node.

If you prefer to be hosted on one of our newer SolusVM nodes then that is fine, but it's possible you will be issued with new IP's. If you want us to see if it's possible to migrate your IP's to one of our newer nodes, then please send a ticket to customer service and I'll get one of the admins to check.
    Kind regards.

Well I am debating with myself on Solus as well, it seems to be a better setup then Virturcrapo

I was going to what on the fabled Cloud Hosting, but I have been waiting for that for 3+ years so.........
