Virtual Dedicated Servers

Can someone tell me the difference between Virtual dedicated hosting & Dedicated hosting?

Virtual hosting is where multiple users share a single server. Dedicated hosting is where you have a single server all to youserself. "Virtual dedicated" hosting (I'm not sure where you saw that term, so I'm guessing here) is probably a situation where the server is split into several different "partitions." Each user gets one of those partitions and has full, root access to that partition, but the physical machine is still shared by multiple people.
