    VPN Issues

I have a windows 2003 server set up with routing and remote access. I have VPN configured for all users to dial in using a PPTP connection. I know this isn't the most secure way of doing it but this is a lab enviroment that I do not want to use certificates on at this time so it serves its purpose.

When I go to work and try to dial in to this network I have no problems on my own office computer. However, if I go to any other office computer the connection hangs when the window goes to "verifing username and password" and then returns a 721 error, the server did not respond. We do have firewalls set up here in the office and I have access to reconfigure those firewalls but my own computer is behind the exact same firewalls/routers as all the other computers so I don't see how I can easily connect while all other computers can't. Anyone got any ideas? This is driving me nuts.

I know that as of Windows 2008 you can now transport PTPP or L2PT over HTTPS. HTTPS uses TCP but since it's a standard HTTP protocol you shouldn't have any issues.

Unfortunately I haven't yet had a chance to get my hands on Windows Server 2008 so I can't be much help.

Hamachi might be another solution for you:
