    Connection limit to email server?

    Hi.

For the past year or so, I've had a difficult time having two computers running and connected to email. When the email clients are running on both computers, one of them cannot download email. Each client is set up somewhat differently, but they both access a certain number of email addresses in common (about 4). Is there some sort of connection limit on the server that prevents two computers from accessing the same email address? We connect to the Internet through a router, so the IP address would be same externally for both computers. Does that matter? Does anyone else have this problem?

FYI, we're connecting via SSL (port 995).

    Hi,

Maximum number of POP3-SSL connections to accept from a single IP address is 30. Same limit will apply if you are accessing same email account or different email accounts via POP3. Please also note since you are using POP3 protocol so each email will be downloaded to a single email client only, it depends on the timer you set to check for new emails while configuring your email client.

We are not using POP, we are using IMAP for all our email addresses. I have 4 email addresses at our main domain. So, is it 30 connections per domain, or per server? We have other email addresses at other domains on the same server. But, even then, I have a total of 8 email addresses, and my wife has a total of 6 on her computer. That only adds up to 14. So it seems the problem is not with the total number, but with which computer gets to download the email via IMAP. Is that right? But it seems that, no matter what I put in my email client for how often it should fetch email, email always comes in as soon as it appears on the server. I could get 4 emails coming in within the space of 5 minutes, even if my email client is set to check email only once every 15 minutes. So, why is that? Is the server overriding this setting? Is it pushing email out as soon as it comes in, to whoever happens to be connected to it, without waiting for a request from the email client?

Can you please open a ticket with the mail account details and your IP from which you're accessing mails so we can investigate it further?
